SLA deadline calculation method

DeadlineDays applies the chosen zone as a label to entered wall-clock fields, then counts the SLA duration without converting to an offset or UTC instant.

  1. Choose the start date, start time, and time zone.
  2. Choose the SLA duration and whether it is measured in business hours, business days, calendar hours, or calendar days.
  3. For business-hour mode, count only minutes inside the configured business hours.
  4. For business-day mode, convert each business day into the configured daily business-hours window.
  5. Skip selected non-working days.
  6. Skip public holidays and custom holidays when business-time mode is enabled.
  7. Calendar-hour and calendar-day modes add time directly and do not skip holidays or non-working days.
  8. If the start time is outside business hours, optionally move it to the next available business time.

Contract assumptions behind the SLA result

SLA timing depends on the service definition, so the displayed timestamp must be reviewed against the agreement that creates the obligation.

  • Calendar-hour mode and business-hour mode answer different questions when a ticket arrives outside the support window.
  • The selected IANA time zone is retained as the wall-clock context for the estimate; it does not convert instants or resolve daylight-saving gaps and duplicate local times.
  • Breaks, non-working weekdays, public holidays, and company closures pause only when the chosen service policy says they should.
  • Day-zero, acknowledgement, severity, and escalation clauses can override a generic duration even when the arithmetic is correct.
